Monday

Today is a bit of a strange day.

Firstly I'm still slowly settling into my new job, and as it is so totally different to anything I've done before there is some considerable settling to be done. My colleagues are lovely though. And I seem to have instigated a small circle of knitting (or wanna knit) colleagues. Which I look forward to enjoying very much. And I also got to see a continental knitter going for it. Yep, now I see why people say it's much faster than the other way.

Secondly Himself is doing a training course this week. And it's not quite as easy as he anticipated. It's gone 10pm and he's still doing homework for it. And is expecting now to be doing the same every night. Fingers crossed, please - this is a really important course!

Thirdly I'm still exhausted. Going back to work is *so* very much more tiring than I remembered, and not just the using of the brain which I haven't really had to do for the last several months. Just going to work and spending the day working rather than knitting/reading/sewing/watching TV/even doing housework is tired. I know I will get used to it again but right now, shattered.

Up until a few minutes ago the TV has been turned off, and that's a strange thing too. We turned it off when Himself started trying to study, as it was not helping. Usually we have the TV on all evening. I usually ignore it and read, or have something interesting on and knit.

Now I'm going to go and do more reading.

Changes in routine are so tiring. There's no "automatic pilot" and you have to think about everything. My husband is taking the first of three computer courses in programming and is doing homework until late in the night as well. It's weird.

Good luck with the new job.

I'm glad you're settling into you new job and like your colleagues, you can underestimate how nice that is! Hope you're less exhausted as time goes on :)

Your new job must be a real culture shock! I hope you're enjoying it as much as you thought you would :)

Just remember-- six weeks, darling. At six weeks, you'll hit maximum exhaustion and it will get better from there.
