Well, I was going to post a lovely long post with lots of pictures on making them. Unfortunately my phone has decided not to recognise my media card (where the pictures are stored). I'm gutted. But hoping it can be fixed and that I can recover my pics.Still, here are rock cakes.
I mostly used this recipe here. I cooked them for slightly longer than suggested though.
The first time I made them I only had sultanas and no mixed fruit, so I just used them, and they worked absolutely fine, but they are even nicer with the mixed fruit too. The batter should be very stiff, and not sloppy if that makes sense. The cooked cakes need to be quite crumbly. Don't forget, the fruit makes them healthy!
In other news, I've got the contrast fabric for my crepe wrap dress. And discovered a very dangerous place for my wallet. Shepherds Bush Market, or more precisely, the fabric shops just outside the market. I had heard them denigrated as just being full of sparkly crap, but on personal inspection I disagree. Looking forward to a return visit. Maybe without my friend this time (my friend came with - we also got fabric for a dress I'm making her - and I'm not sure she realised that she was supposed to stop me if I went into a fabric buying frenzy!)

They sound good (although it's a bit hot right this minute for turning on the oven) All of a sudden it's summer!
right, i'm making them. I do remember them as being quite a crumbly cake, from childhood. Will get some mixed fruit!
