Firstly, yes I live in London. Yes, we're all ok.
I don't know anyone who has been hurt, although I do know people who have experienced the riots. My colleague has not been able to get home this week.
Ealing was attacked. It's a short bus ride from here.
Tonight all the town centres round here have been closed.
Our little shopping area here in Kew was closed by 9pm. Pub, Tescos and everything.
It's bad, it's scary and totally unexpected.
However the reaction riotcleanup and the twitter @riotcleanup is doing good stuff. If I wasn't working or could get a day off easily I would have been in Ealing armed with broom and binliners. However a friend who did found that the local authority had been cleaning up since 5.30am and that there was actually nothing to do.
We've got much stronger policing tonight. We'll see how that works out.
In much more cheerful news:
I finished my Corinne. It's slightly too small, and I knew it might be a tiny bit too small, but it's garter stitch, and I know it will stretch.
I finished my Corinne. It's slightly too small, and I knew it might be a tiny bit too small, but it's garter stitch, and I know it will stretch.I seem to be not able to do a good KnitNation post so I will just say the following points:
Wollmeise - now I understand.
Susan Crawford's Vintage fit and finish was mind blowing.
Spinning in company is good. Learning while doing it is even better.
Knitters are fabulous. There is nowhere I'd rather have been not knowing anyone. I found someone to talk to and eat lunch with each day, and they were knitting interesting things and interested in what I was knitting.
Shame it's not happening next year, but I'm looking forward to the year after.
That's all.

I am so glad to hear that you are ok. I've been thinking of you for the last few days. This whole thing is surreal. London is so civilized. How can this happen?
And knitters can be some of the best folks to hang with. They are mostly inviting and interested in whatever you're doing and love to show off what they're doing. I say mostly because I tried to join a knitter group and was turned off by the lack of warmth and openness of the group. KnitNation sounds so very cool.
I still don't get the Wollmeise, though.
Glad to hear you are okay - hopefully the riots will end soon.
Glad to see you're okay. The jumper is cute.
