Sewing!

Look what I made! I made most of it Monday, and hemmed it and did the button holes yesterday. I sewed the buttons on this afternoon, and Kathryn tried it on when she came home today. It's the Clothkits Red Birdie shift dress age 7 - 9, and I've made it in the biggest size for longer wear. It's a corduroy fabric, so it'll be nice and warm for the winter. She wants to wear it to school tomorrow (yay for no school uniform) with a long sleeve tee shirt and tights under. I even managed to put the pocket on it this time.

And you can see her wobbly tooth is nearly out too. Front top tooth that looks crooked. It's been hanging on for days.

And the beginnings of my big skirt for the Halloween ball I'm going to. I had to cut this out on the floor as it's too long for my table. It's going to be tricky. The satin is so very slippery, and also very happy to unravel as soon as it has a raw edge. I've got two more days to work on this before I start my new job, so hopefully that will be enough. It looks fairly simple, with a few difficult parts. The skirt panels all sew together simply, it's the waistband that's tricky. If I get going on this early enough tomorrow I might even finish it in one day (somehow I don't think that's very likely though).

I will post more picture of the outfit as I go.
