We had a four hour wait in York before we could register at the place we were staying. So, what do you do in York for four hours, that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?
Well, you could go to the National Railway Museum. It's about 5 minutes walk from the station there, is free, and has a fabulous cafe! If you're not trying to persuade a 6 year old that it's interesting and fun, you could actually see some interesting things. But Kathryn wasn't terribly interested in the trains. But she did like the ice lolly. And chocolate biscuit.
Or you could go and visit the Yorkshire Museum. We didn't go into the museum, because it was more money than I wanted to spend, but the grounds were free to enter, and stunning.
Kathryn found plenty of squirrels to photograph.
There was a whole university art class drawing this beautiful ruin, and Kathryn wanted to draw it too. Unfortunately all I had was my filofax paper and a pen, or my old blackberry which she was using to take pictures on, and had games on. One of the games was an art game and she sat there drawing it with ArtGo!
It was really stunning. I want to go back, to stay in York, and actually to explore the city. It's gorgeous.
Then on the Saturday, my brother got married. Here he and his lovely bride are signing the register. The rest of my pictures from indoors during their actual wedding were quite bad so I'm not sharing them!

Outdoors, shadowing the official photographer, I managed to get a really good picture of my parents and my brother.
My brother and his bride are massive fans of music festivals, so the whole thing was festival themed. Each table was named for a festival. I was on Bestival.
A very tired flowergirl.
There was a tent thing for the kids to play in when they got bored. This is the only photo I could find that only had Kathryn in it.After the meal, the kids were exhausted, so my sister and I took our kids back to the cabins we were staying in. As we had a spare bed, Kathryn had her cousin in our cabin for a sleepover.
At some point during the wedding and reception after, my old blackberry went missing. Kathryn used it as a camera, both still and video, to play music and games on, and she's quite upset. I'm kicking myself for not ensuring it was back in my bag. I should look on it as a learning experience, but I'm still too cross that someone took it. Everyone there saw Kathryn running around with it, taking pictures and showing them to people, so all the guests and most of the staff knew it belonged to a small child. This small and (to some people) totally insignificant issue totally spoiled the weekend for me.
But my brother and his new bride had a fabulous wedding, and had a great day, it was a nice venue, and a lovely area. The food was amazing, and the music (what I heard of it before Kathryn wanted to leave) was really good.

Those ruins are lovely. The wedding, totally amazing!
Bummer about losing old blackberry.
I'd go back and see the ruins again, too. They're gorgeous. And Kathryn looks pretty in that color. It irks me that someone would take a child's possession (well, anyone's possession really, but it's worse when it's a child)
If you are interested in planning a Los Angeles wedding you are not alone. Each year, in the Los Angeles area, a large number of weddings take place. Planning a wedding can be a difficult task
